 From Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken”:

“two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled  by
And that has made all the difference.”

I think the theme of this poem is about making choices.  In a sense these two deer must decide which way to continue traveling; where will they find browse, which is the safer route.   And isn’t it interesting that they choose a pathway flanked with cactus.
